Three separate shootings bring D.C.’s homicide count to 114.
- Friday 9/18/15 @ 7:45 p.m. – In the 1800 block of Harvard Street, NW, Charles Antonio Welch, 25, a resident of Fort Washington, Maryland, was found shot and later transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
- Saturday 9/19/15 @ 1 a.m. – 3200 block of 28th Street, SE. one unidentified adult male found shot and later transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
- Saturday 9/19/15 @ 4 a.m. – 2400 block of Elvans Road, SE., Deontray Ingram, 22, of Southeast, shot dead at the scene.

The DC Police Department is spending lots of money, in terms of time and manpower, on busting prostitutes and johns while, as of August 13, 2015, city officials report 91 homicides — 20 more than this time last year.
Chief Cathy Lanier has offered a few personal opinions as to why the killings have increased, but she’s been careful not to single out just one explanation to account for the spike.
