D.C. citizens be advised, the National Weather Service says heavy snow and wind are expected with the potential for 18 to 24 inches of snow in the
Eastern suburbs of Washington, D.C., and 24 to 30 inches in the Western suburbs. The heaviest snow will develop late Friday afternoon and continue through Saturday night. Blowing snow will cause hazardous conditions and will be a threat to life and property. Travel is expected to be severely limited if not impossible during the height of the storm Friday night and Saturday, and visibility will be reduced to near zero at times due to whiteout conditions.
Metro advises that the Rail system will shut down on Friday at 11 p.m. with no service through the entire weekend. In addition, Bus service will stop at 5 p.m. on Friday with no service through the weekend as well.
Mayor Bowser reminds us that it is the Law and every citizens obligation to shovel the sidewalks in front of his or her home or business.
The Concerned Citizen says Stay Safe, use extreme caution in your travels and activities during this snow emergency.
