Does DC need the Death penalty?

According to public records, 19-year-old Zacchaeus Blanding hasalley been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man whose burned body was found in a trash can on the morning of June 23 in the 1200 block of Holbrook Terrace in the Northeast section of the city. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said the suspect and the victim, 19-year-old Heineken McNeil, were friends.

Blanding is charged with second-degree murder while armed.

Mayor Muriel Bowser said police have stepped up patrols in the Trinidad neighborhood since the killing. She also said that DC has experienced an increase in violent crime this year, but overall, when you look at our numbers, crime is up by only 1 percent, and when someone is killed, it is our clear message that justice must be served.

Justice must be served! Yeah right Ms. Bowser, tell that to the victim’s family. If you really want Justice served, change the law and sentence these killers to the Death Penalty.  What’s your thoughts DC?
